Meet The Team

Tash Thomas
Facility Manager

Tash was born and raised in the northern beaches of Sydney, Australia. She moved to NZ in 2009. She is a mother to two children (Romeo 10yrs and Evie 4yrs), and has her third due in October!

In 2010 Tash completed her studies in Sport & Recreation at AUT before starting her journey in the fitness industry. She began personal training at Les Mills Auckland city. Since then Tash has continued to up skill her knowledge conducting courses under NZ guru of Olympic lifting Richie Patterson and in Nutrition and Health Science through the NZ College of Naturopathy.

From there Tash got more involved in the management side, managing multiple stores such as Lululemon Ponsonby, True Food and Yoga, North Beach and was involved in event management for the Royal NZ Navy. She was also manager of Corpore Sano CrossFit from 2018-2019.

Tash found CrossFit in 2015 and like most people has enjoyed the competitive side to it but also the supportive community that comes with it. During the last five years she has taken breaks to test herself in more specific domains, such as strength and endurance. Tash represented NZ at the Arnold classic in Melbourne, Australia in the U65 category for strongwoman. She also trained for and completed her first full marathon in 2020 as well as numerous other endurance events.

Tash’s passion lies within helping everyday people to achieve the unimaginable and genuinely cares about helping them to be the best versions of themselves.

Coach Cullam Skipping

Cullam Ross Davie
Head Coach

Our Head Coach Cullam is possibly one of the most passionate CrossFitters you’ll ever meet.

The passion really kicked off in 2018 when he completed his personal training and CrossFit Level 1 courses, and he started coaching at CrossFit Ruark in Rotorua.

Cullam’s always been a sports man – throwing himself into football, swimming, rugby and primarily rowing during his school years, but CrossFit quickly became his #1. Since 2017, he’s signed up for every CrossFit Open, been on the podium twice at team nationals and multiple other competition.

When he moved to the Mount in 2020, Cullam took up work at a HIIT boxing gym and became a member at Mount CrossFit, where he joined us as our head coach in 2021.

“If I could say one thing to someone interested in CrossFit, it’d be “Just come try one class.”

Shannon Lockton
Coach

Being surrounded by sport my whole life, it was only inevitable that I picked up a sport myself and tried to be the best I could. It was at a young age I pushed myself and found something I could really do well in. As school ended and studies started, I found my passion for health and fitness.

As many of us start working to pay for our hobbies, I was working to pay for something I really loved and would rather put my full time and energy into. This is where I decided to study personal training, and few years ago completed my Level 1 in CrossFit. With the knowledge I already had from training in the gym and playing sport, I knew I had made the right decision. I wanted to help people live a fit and healthy lifestyle and enjoy training no matter their fitness level.

I’ve been coaching CrossFit for 3 years since moving to Hamilton and starting my first coaching role, now returning to the mount to start coaching where my love of CrossFit first began. Mount CrossFit is the first CrossFit gym I walked into and I’ve never looked back. With the variety in CrossFit training you have the best of everything and there is so much to you can learn. I’m grateful to be able to coach our members, have our members achieve goals and enjoy their CrossFit journey – this is why I love coaching!

In my spare time you’ll more than likely see my in the gym training, drinking coffee or on the beach walking my dog Bernie, who will often be in the gym watching over us all.

Just like our members, I found a gym where it’s not just a place to train but a place where I have made so many special connections.

Felicity Beaston-Blase
Coach

Kia ora, My name is Felicity Beatson,

For as long as I can remember I have been involved in some kind of physical activity, starting swimming from when I was 4, then beginning netball when I was 8, which was when I started to truly take sports more seriously. I took part in several basketball teams, eventually trying out for rep netball and making it into the U15 Magic development squad.

I started CrossFit in 2017 to help me get stronger in my netball. I eventually fell out of love with Netball and began to pursue CrossFit more seriously. In 2019 I began weightlifting and slowly began to stop CrossFit. I didn’t really consider coming back to CrossFit until the end of 2021 when I talked to Cullam Ross-Davie about me beginning to coach and he allowed me to start shadowing his classes. Watching the way that Cullam was able to interact and change people’s lives inspired me. He was a big part of my learning experience and I’m so grateful to him.

I officially began my coaching career in 2022 and I am grateful for the opportunities that it has meant for me. CrossFit has given me the chance to watch my mother get into one of the best shapes of her life, and it has helped to give me a job and pursue my passion for helping people. As an impressionable teenager, CrossFit and the Mount CrossFit community, have kept me in shape and out of trouble, and I’m grateful to those that have kept me accountable and engaged.

I’m passionate about the smaller things in coaching, things that may be overlooked, such as someone being able to keep their heels on the ground in a squat! My goal isn’t to get athletes to compete, but instead to help them to become their best selves. My aim is for those who leave my classes to feel as though they’re mentally stronger and less stressed by the outside world. In the future, I hope to learn how to rehabilitate people and to help them become the best versions of themselves, whether they are 15 or 60, or any age in between.

Thanks for reading this, I hope to see you in my next class!
